What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Civil Estimator. The Estimator will support the delivery of accurate and timely cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects. This position is based out of our office in Port Huron, Michigan.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Analyzes documents, specifications, proposals, addendums in preparation for pricing.
  • Assists with RFP’s and General Contract tender submissions.
  • Supports team in preparing quantity take-offs from construction drawings where applicable.
  • Research and/or obtains pricing from Suppliers and Subcontractors that can be incorporated into project estimates.
  • Assists with prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required.
  • Aids in estimate creation for bid submission – labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
  • Attends site visits in advance of estimate creation.
  • Ensures the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.
  • Collects data for reports on established business key performance Indicators.
  • Support with the maintenance of files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
  • Provides technical support to field staff when needed
  • Coordinates Scope Changes as required.
  • Incorporates / complies with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.
  • Maintains estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Civil / Construction / Electrical or Business Diploma or Degree Program.
  • 5 to 8 years estimating experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of contract language / Terms and Conditions / Bonding etc.
  • knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting / reporting principles an asset.
