Position Title: Director of Evangelization and Family Discipleship

Summary of Position

The Director of Evangelization and Family Discipleship at St. Hugo of the Hills leads efforts to form parish staff, strategic volunteers, and families in a culture of intentional discipleship, fostering deeper conversion and active faith engagement. This role connects parish, school, and family life, oversees evangelization initiatives, and guides spiritual formation programs under the direction of the pastor.

Basic Functions

• Form parish and school leadership and staff in the ways of discipleship so that the work (and mission) of each employee is focused on making disciples – the calling forth, mentoring, and sending forth of the faithful

• Form and assess strategic volunteers (those who head ministries) for the necessary gifts to call others forth and work out the vision of discipleship which includes conversion and a deeper living of faith

• Strengthen and form the domestic church (families) so that
  • There is a strong connection between St. Hugo School, Religious Education, and Parish
  • The faith learned in parish and school settings is retained and deepened in family living which in turn deepens family involvement in parish life

Other Expectations

• Act under the direction of the pastor

• Facilitate spiritual growth and engagement by leading retreats, developing workshops for ongoing faith formation, and fostering community through small groups, prayer gatherings, and welcoming initiatives

• Execute the Greater Faith Initiative – build bridges between enrolled school families and parish life

• Work with our media specialist in promoting programming through all communication channels

• Develop and oversee budget for this [new] department

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic actively engaged in parish life, committed to Catholic identity and the mission of the Church.

• Passionate disciple committed to the New Evangelization and Unleash the Gospel, with knowledge of catechetics and proven methods for forming children and adults into missionary disciples.

• Experienced leader with at least three years in a similar role, able to provide references verifying performance.

• Program builder skilled in developing a vision, creating parish programs, and assessing their effectiveness to foster growth and discipleship.

• Educated minister holding a Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field, with both theological knowledge and practical experience applied in service of parish life.
