Electrical Engineer
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of electrical control systems for custom automation projects. This role requires the ability to plan, execute, and support projects from concept through commissioning, with minimal supervision. The engineer will provide PLC and HMI programming support, assist with in-house system builds, and offer field support for installed automotive test systems as needed.
Responsibilities- Design electrical control systems for automation projects with minimal supervision.
- Plan and execute project deliverables using experience and independent judgment.
- Develop PLC and HMI programs for machine control systems.
- Support manufacturing and in-house system builds.
- Provide field support and troubleshooting for installed automotive test systems.
- Create and maintain complete electrical print sets.
- Develop and maintain accurate bills of material (BOMs) for assigned projects.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external customers.
- Communicate technical information clearly using tact and diplomacy.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with an emphasis on controls or systems design, or equivalent knowledge of electrical and control system concepts.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens is required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or EPLAN for electrical design.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with additional PLC platforms such as Mitsubishi, GE, Omron, or others is a plus.
- Basic understanding of industrial networking concepts.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This role involves no travel and offers the potential for a hybrid schedule after earning the trust of the manager. You will help design, build, and support complex diagnostic, inspection, and test systems in environments where performance, safety, and reliability are critical.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
