Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a large academic medical center in Michigan, requiring 2 years of PreOp & PACU experience with ICU-level patient care and an active MI RN license in hand.
Details
- 13-week travel contract in a hospital PACU setting across two floors serving distinct surgical specialties
- L4 services include Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, and General Thoracic surgical cases; L6 services include Neurosurgery, Ortho-Spine, Neuro-Interventional Radiology (NIR), and MRI
- Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery care in a 264-bed facility featuring 20 surgical suites and 3 interventional radiology suites
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Afternoon/evening shifts available in either 8-hour (12p–8:30p or 2p–10:30p rotating) or 10-hour (9a–7:30p or 11a–9:30p rotating) formats, 40 hours/week
- No call, no float, and no weekend requirements
- Epic EMR experience required
- Surgical cases include Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, Neuro, Neuro/Spine, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, and Thoracic
Requirements
- Active MI RN license (non-compact, not pending) required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of PreOp and PACU experience caring for ICU-level patients required
- Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
- Preferred certifications: CAPA or CPAN
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
- Required skills include: airway assessment, care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, extubation (LMA/ET), interpretation of ABGs, placement of oral/nasal airways, ICP monitoring, spine surgery care, antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressor administration, dysrhythmia recognition/management, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, cardiac arrest/CPR, and malignant hyperthermia protocol
- Preferred skills include: fresh tracheostomy, craniotomy, cervical and anterior/posterior fusions, EVD management, stroke scale, pre-op assessment and education, medication reconciliation, 12-lead EKG/ECG, insulin protocols, and pre/post IR and operative procedures
- 2 supervisory references (manager or above) required; charge RN references are not accepted
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- All time-off requests must be submitted at time of initial consideration; no RTO approved for the first week of the contract
