As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare's mission is to serve the people of our communities. The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and supervision of Behavioral Health Urgent Care. The BHUC Supervisor is a working role. Behavioral health urgent care offers prompt, specialized support for individuals facing a mental health or substance use crisis. Serving as a critical link between primary care and emergency services, it focuses on stabilizing individuals, evaluating their needs, and connecting them to appropriate follow-up care—often helping to avoid unnecessary emergency room visits.

Compensation Range

The starting pay for this position is $59,500 - $80,500 for fully licensed candidates and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

  • Be present in the clinic each day.
  • Serve as a leader and role model for the organization in matters relating to Behavioral Health Urgent Care and provide daily supervision of assigned team operations.
  • Oversee assigned staff work assignments and work schedules to meet the needs of individuals served and the agency.
  • Ensure that direct reports meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
  • Assist assigned team members as needed in all aspects of triage, service planning, treatment, and support activities.
  • Complete all assigned reporting and projects within designated time frames.
  • Utilize formal and informal assessment practices in order to respond to crisis, needs, desires and interests of the individual/family.
  • Ensure that the individual’s needs are identified and initially met through innovative and clinically effective methods.
  • Perform triage to determine if the individual requires a higher level of care.
  • Assist with de-escalation when necessary.
  • Complete intakes as needed.
  • Ensure documentation of attendance at required trainings is maintained for all assigned staff and available for review upon request.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that comply with regulatory standards and organizational goals in alignment with agency’s mission.
  • Regularly assess the quality of work and operational metrics for assigned staff and make suggestions for continuous improvement including the development of team improvement goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and external partners regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
  • p. Support the development of agency staff and community partners by providing training as assigned.
  • q. Attend and participate in meetings, committees, and workgroups as assigned.
  • r. Serve as a subject-matter expert on the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and health registries and promote the utilization of the Community Electronic Health Record (CEHR) for individuals served.
  • Ensure assigned staff compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements.
  • Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
  • Participate in and promote departmental and agency quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, HIPAA standards, and other regulatory programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent individual supervision (recorded) at least monthly based on their individual needs and experience, that includes, but is not limited to monthly case reviews and review of any corrective action steps.
  • Organize and oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned team to ensure appropriate coverage of responsibilities.
  • Educate, enforce, and ensure team compliance with CNS Healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Cultivate, maintain, and enhance team, department, and interdepartmental relationships to promote collaboration, teamwork, and a positive working environment.
  • Serve as a conduit of communication between direct reports, department leadership, and agency leadership.
  • Build a strong team by attracting, selecting, onboarding, and developing direct reports to retain high-performance team members and empower them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, and coach in providing ongoing and consistent individual supervision that is focused on meeting individual productivity and performance goals, as well as departmental goals, objectives, and project deadlines.
  • Manage employee performance, including any verbal/written warnings and conducting employee evaluations to provide examples of behavior, ways for employees to improve performance, and development of goals for the coming year.
  • Lead assigned team in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with all quality improvement initiatives and standards to promote quality achievement across the organization.
  • Responsible for managing work schedules, time and attendance, paid time off, and mileage for assigned staff in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • State licensure: Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist (LP).
  • At least 2 years of experience in community mental health at least five years of experience in related human services areas.
  • Prior experience in a leadership capacity overseeing direct reports, or experience providing staff training, supporting team operations, and/or projects.
  • Working knowledge of conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
  • Flexibility is crucial, as the position may require coverage support during all operational hours.
  • Proficient with computers, Microsoft office products (including Outlook, Word, and Excel), and electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations.
  • Ability to contribute to an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and contributions of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.
  • Advanced time management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
  • Automobile accessibility with current auto insurance

Preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience in a community mental health setting.
  • Experience working in a crisis or urgent care setting.

Travel

This position may require travel during the workday to other locations. CNS Healthcare operates multiple sites within the community, and this position requires the flexibility to drive to several locations and ability to work at any site if needed.
