Location: Corktown Factory, Detroit (in-factory)

Compensation: Hourly or salaried depending on experience

Soft Goods is a knitwear-focused cut & sew factory located in Corktown, Detroit. We produce high-quality garments for our own brand and partner brands across the country. Our work spans in-house production and a network of domestic factories, mills, and vendors.

We’re a small, hands-on team that values American-made craftsmanship, clear communication, and getting things done right.

Role Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is a hands-on, in-factory role responsible for keeping materials, inventory, shipping, and vendor coordination running accurately and on time. This position is not desk-only—you’ll regularly be on the production floor handling materials, checking inventory, preparing shipments, and solving problems in real time.

This is an execution-focused role for someone who takes ownership, works independently, and follows tasks through to completion without needing constant direction. As the business grows, this role will also help improve systems, workflow, and day-to-day decision-making.

• Are comfortable switching between physical tasks and computer-based work throughout the day

This Role Is Not a Good Fit If You:

• Are looking for a remote or desk-only supply chain role
• Prefer highly structured tasks with step-by-step direction
• Are uncomfortable working in a production or warehouse environment
• Avoid taking ownership when things are unclear or need follow-up

Core Responsibilities

Purchasing & Materials

• Execute purchasing based on BOMs, production schedules, and material requirements while staying within budget
• Place orders aligned with lead times and production needs
• Communicate with material vendors and outside partners on availability, timelines, and order status
• Proactively flag risks related to lead time, availability, or cost that could impact production or delivery

Inventory & Tracking

• Track materials across raw materials (RMI), work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods (FGI)
• Maintain accurate inventory records for both in-house and out-of-house production
• Support improvements to inventory systems, organization, and tracking methods

Shipping, Fulfillment & Compliance

• Prepare and manage inbound and outbound shipments (UPS, freight, and local couriers)
• Ensure shipping accuracy, including counts, addresses, and documentation
• Handle commercial invoices, compliance paperwork, and international shipping requirements
• Communicate shipment status, tracking, and delivery updates clearly with clients and internal teams

Execution & Ownership

• Independently identify and prioritize work without waiting for direction
• Take ownership of tasks from initiation through confirmed completion
• Follow up with vendors, carriers, and internal teams until issues are fully resolved
• Build and maintain simple systems, checklists, and documentation to reduce errors and rework

Skills & Experience

• Experience in supply chain, logistics, operations, fulfillment, or manufacturing preferred
• Apparel or textile experience is a strong plus
• Comfortable working hands-on in a factory environment
• Demonstrated ability to self-direct day-to-day work and manage competing priorities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Clear communicator with vendors and internal teams
• Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership
• Familiarity with inventory tracking and purchasing systems
