Title: Crane & Hoist Technician

Location: Kalamazoo, MI (Travel surrounding Geographic Area)

Job Summary:

To perform factory supplied services offered to crane and hoist owners/users. Such services include preventative maintenance, repair, OSHA inspections, and installation of new and rebuilt equipment, also assistance in orders, warranty claims and assembly. Provide quality installation, inspections, maintenance and repair service for hoist and crane equipment. Technician will also uphold the highest level of professional integrity and ethics as required to instill customer confidence and continued success in service.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Primary functions include technological knowledge in working with electronic

• Service overhead crane systems and hoists by performing quality installations.

• Perform OSHA equivalent inspections; documenting and completing warranty work; troubleshooting breakdowns.

• Perform preventive maintenance; and respond to emergency service/breakdown calls.

• Support customers by effectively interfacing with customer and the office in repairing equipment as needed.

• Perform electrical and/or mechanical adjustments or repairs with or without engineered drawings.

• Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; and recommending system improvements.

• Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist.

• Maintain professional presentation, timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas.

• Develop a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes for overhead cranes and hoists.

• Responsible for company equipment including, company vehicle(s), tools, etc.

Education & Qualifications:

• 5 or more years’ troubleshooting cranes and hoist equipment is required.
• Experience with 3-phase motors, VFDs, contactors, and circuits.
• Previous overhead crane and scissor lift experience required.
• Associate’s degree with concentration in Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Technology, preferred.
• Ability to work at height, in extreme temperature and noisy locations. This is a physically demanding job involving standing, walking, sitting and the ability to lift 50-100lbs.
• Perform inspections to OSHA criteria.
• Ability to work independently.
• Capable of dealing directly with the customer and representing self and company in a professional manner.
• Communication skills both internally and externally, informing both the company and the customer the status of the job.
• Quality and results driven while maintaining a safety mindset.
• Required to use own hand tools and meter.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
