Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school-based social worker is needed for a maternal leave contract at an elementary school in Grand Rapids, MI. This position supports students' social and emotional well-being within the school environment, providing essential services to help children succeed academically and personally during the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student welfare.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services as needed.
- Connect families with community resources and support services.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with school and district policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings related to student support.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Licensed or license-eligible social worker in the state of Michigan.
- Experience working with elementary-age children in school settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of community resources relevant to children and families.

Contract Type: Maternal leave coverage for the school year (NSY)
