Electrical Project Estimator

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to support large-scale commercial and industrial electrical construction projects in the Detroit, Michigan area. This role focuses on preparing accurate, competitive bids for complex projects while working closely with project managers, vendors, and field teams. The position plays a critical role in preconstruction, ensuring projects are properly scoped, priced, and positioned for successful execution. This is a strong fit for someone with a proven track record estimating high-value electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates for large commercial and industrial construction projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bid documents
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop accurate project budgets
• Review project plans and specifications to identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive bids
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during preconstruction and handoff
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
• Participate in bid reviews, scope clarifications, and project planning meetings
• Track bid performance and maintain historical cost data for future estimates
• Support change order pricing and cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably on large-scale commercial or industrial projects
• Proven experience estimating high-value or complex electrical construction projects
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and construction processes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
• Experience with estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Electrical trade background or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
