Medical Physicist
West Michigan Cancer Center- Medical Physicist in Kalamazoo, MI. Duties: Perform benchmark tests on treatment planning system to ensure accuracy of dose calculations. Perform quality assurance (QA) testing on existing equipment to ensure radiation safety. Perform quality assurance testing of accelerators and other radiation emitting equipment. Monitor performance and availability of communications platforms and other treatment devices. Perform regular verification of treatment planning systems to ensure consistency of planning parameters with actual treatment device and accuracy of dose calculations. Provide guidance to develop treatment plans for patients receiving radiation therapy treatment in collaboration with physicians. Review and approve treatment plans to ensure the completeness of prescription. Handle radioactive materials, develop and enforce procedures according to state and federal regulations and participates in brachytherapy procedures... Alert the Director of Physics of deficient supply levels, equipment needs and malfunctions. Ensure patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in patient safety initiatives. Take action to correct observed risks to patient safety. Identify possible risks in processes, procedures. Requires: Master's Degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, Physics, or related discipline and minimum two years' experience in therapeutic radiation physics in a clinical setting.
