Integrative Medicine Physician
About the Role
We are seeking a forward-thinking, outcomes-driven Integrative Medicine Physician to join our multidisciplinary care team. This physician will focus on preventive health, longevity, and whole-person care , blending conventional medical practices with integrative approaches to optimize patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, functional medicine principles, and risk reduction strategies —someone passionate about guiding patients toward sustainable wellness and long-term health. You will collaborate closely with health coaches, nutritionists, behavioral health specialists, fitness professionals, and primary/specialty care providers to deliver data-guided, individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Longevity-Focused Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including medical history, risk stratification, lifestyle assessment, and advanced diagnostic interpretation.
- Identify early risk patterns across metabolic, cardiovascular, cognitive, hormonal, and inflammatory domains.
- Develop individualized, evidence-informed prevention plans emphasizing sustainable behavior change.
- Prescribe and manage preventive therapeutics and protocols as appropriate (e.g., cardiometabolic risk reduction, weight optimization, sleep improvement, inflammation management).
- Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, biomarker trending, and iterative plan optimization.
- Identify candidates for specialty referral when risk thresholds or clinical findings indicate escalation.
Integrative & Lifestyle Medicine Approaches
- Provide guidance on nutrition, movement, stress resilience, sleep optimization, and environmental risk reduction.
- Utilize functional and advanced diagnostic testing to inform personalized interventions.
- Collaborate with health coaches and clinical staff to translate physician plans into actionable weekly and monthly patient routines .
- Incorporate evidence-based integrative therapies, including supplements, nutraceuticals, mindfulness practices, and hormone/metabolic optimization protocols.
Care Coordination & Collaboration
- Partner with primary care and specialty providers to ensure continuity and alignment of treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, team meetings, and clinical protocol development.
- Support clinical quality improvement initiatives related to patient outcomes, adherence, and satisfaction.
Patient Experience & Education
- Foster a high-trust, empathetic, patient-centered clinical environment.
- Lead shared decision-making conversations that align patient goals with long-term health strategies.
- Educate patients using clear, motivating, science-grounded communication.
- Optionally, deliver workshops or group visits on preventive health topics.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain thorough, accurate documentation in the EHR to support care continuity and outcomes tracking.
- Follow all practice standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based guidelines.
- Participate in the refinement of clinical protocols, preventive care pathways, and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
Required:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or related specialty.
- Active Michigan medical license (or ability to obtain).
- Demonstrated experience in preventive, integrative, functional, or lifestyle medicine .
- Strong interest in root-cause evaluation, whole-person care, and long-term wellness strategies.
- Excellent communication and patient-centered care skills.
Preferred / Highly Desired:
- Fellowship or certification in Integrative Medicine, Functional Medicine (IFM), Lifestyle Medicine (ABLM), or similar.
- Experience managing chronic metabolic, endocrine, or cardiovascular conditions.
- Background in team-based or multidisciplinary care environments.
- Training in motivational interviewing, behavioral change coaching, or patient engagement strategies.
