Compensation: Project based (not $25/hour)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and creative Baker specializing in desserts for catering and event services. This role focuses on preparing high-quality baked goods and desserts for weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and special events. The ideal candidate has a passion for baking, attention to detail, and the ability to produce consistent, visually appealing desserts in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake a variety of desserts including cakes, pastries, cheesecake, tiramisu, tarts, cookies, and specialty items for catered events
• Design and decorate desserts to meet event themes and client specifications
• Manage production timelines to ensure all items are fresh and ready for delivery or setup
• Maintain consistency in quality, taste, and presentation across all orders
• Assist with menu planning and seasonal dessert development
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of ingredients and finished products
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in accordance with food safety standards
• Collaborate with catering and event teams to coordinate dessert setup and presentation

Travel Requirements

• Ability to travel to event venues for on-site dessert setup, finishing, and presentation
• Transport baked goods safely to various locations while maintaining quality and appearance
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to work at off-site venues, including indoor and outdoor locations
• Flexibility to travel locally and occasionally outside the immediate area, depending on event needs

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Baker or Pastry Chef (catering or event experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and dessert presentation
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Creativity and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Skills

• Experience with custom cake decorating and specialty desserts
• Familiarity with large-scale or bulk production baking
• Knowledge of dietary accommodations (gluten-free, vegan, allergen-conscious baking)
