About the Role
We are fast growing property management company seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Property Accountant to join our team in Okemos, MI. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys new challenges, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in producing accurate financial reporting.
The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and works well both independently and collaboratively.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and analyze monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties
Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash activity
Process month-end closing reports
Assist with external reporting requirements
Analyze financial variances and provide supporting documentation
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with property managers and internal teams
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)
Prior general ledger experience
Strong accounting and analytical skills
Experience with financial accounting software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Customer service mindset and team-oriented attitude
Highly detail-oriented and organized
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
Problem solver who enjoys learning and improving processes
