Controls Engineer - 2nd/3rd Shift
Job Summary
MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Controls Engineer at our Farmington Hills, Michigan location. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain instrumentation and control systems that support safe, efficient, high-quality manufacturing. You will work hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, and embedded control applications while troubleshooting and improving automation systems.

Schedule: 2nd/3rd Shift, 7:00 PM–3:00 AM
Pay: $85,000–$95,000 per year, depending on skills and experience

What You'll Do as a Controls Engineer
Design, develop, and implement automation systems for manufacturing and related processes using control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications and interfaces to meet operational requirements.
Support the setup and commissioning of new facilities and upgrades to existing control systems.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve control system malfunctions.
Recommend control system improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and quality.
Create and maintain detailed specifications, system configurations, operational procedures, and other technical documentation.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support effective deployment and operation of control systems.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
2–4 years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering, PLC programming, HMI development, and automation.
Experience with control systems, Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting, HMI development, and embedded systems.
Strong critical-thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions.
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in technical work and documentation.
