Job Summary
T he Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the efficient flow of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility. This role supports warehouse and production operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, preparing, and distributing materials using both manual and automated material handling equipment, including forklifts.
Job Description
- Follow all workplace safety, quality, and housekeeping policies and procedures.
- Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping documents, and requisitions to determine materials to be moved or distributed.
- Move materials between receiving, storage, production, and shipping areas.
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to established processes and product specifications.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment, including larger or irregularly shaped packages.
- Assemble orders on pallets and prepare materials for transport.
- Mark and label materials with identifying information.
- Open and inspect containers, crates, bales, and shipments.
- Record and track inventory transactions, including quantities received and distributed.
- Weigh and count materials to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Enter inventory and shipment data into warehouse management systems.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trailers containing palletized and non-palletized products.
- Support inventory management activities and material organization.
- Assist with facility consolidation efforts and movement of materials between locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Shift: 6am - 2:30pm or 7am - 3:30pm
Skills Required
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and management.
- Ability to read and interpret information within warehouse computer software systems.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Consistent and reliable work history.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- 5–10 years of warehouse, logistics, or material handling experience.
- Experience operating forklifts and automated material handling equipment.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material preparation.
- Demonstrated longevity in previous positions.
Education
- High school diploma or GED
Pay Rate
- $18 - $27 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
