Maintenance Technician

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Schedule: 2nd shift: 2:45pm- 11:15pm

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs maintenance activities throughout the production facility. This individual measures and analyzes machine data, determines the root cause of equipment failures, and recommends appropriate resolutions.

Continuous improvement is an important part of this position, as the maintenance team works to improve the reliability, performance, and efficiency of machinery and equipment within the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repairs on production machinery and equipment.
• Read work orders and equipment specifications to determine machinery requiring maintenance or repair.
• Visually inspect and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to identify the cause of malfunctions.
• Inspect and measure parts to identify wear, misalignment, damage, or other issues.
• Reassemble machinery following the completion of maintenance or repair work.
• Conduct routine inspections to determine when repairs or maintenance are needed to prevent breakdowns or major equipment overhauls.
• Perform preventive maintenance duties as assigned.
• Perform general building maintenance and carpentry work.
• Work overtime when necessary to repair equipment or machinery that is affecting production.
• Maintain a personal set of tools and a toolbox.
• Follow company policies and procedures regarding forklift operation, overhead crane operation, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Comply with all applicable federal and state OSHA regulations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• MUST have Injection Molding experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions, work orders, specifications, and blueprints in English.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior maintenance personnel.
• Knowledge of general carpentry, building maintenance, and repair.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to move, transport, and install items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to successfully complete required training and maintain certifications for forklift and overhead crane operation.
• Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and workplace safety requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of applicable federal and state OSHA regulations.
• Ability to comply with ISO and IATF requirements.

Equipment and Machinery Knowledge

Experience with plastics auxiliary equipment is preferred, including:

• Fanuc and Ranger robots
• Water pumps
• Temperature-control units
• Material-conveying systems
• Dryers
• Vacuum pumps
• Hot-runner systems
• Sensors and secondary equipment troubleshooting

Experience working with the following machinery is preferred:

• Mitsubishi
• Toshiba
• Kawaguchi
• Fanuc Roboshot
• Powerjet
• Haitian
• Engel
• Demag

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two to four years of related maintenance experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Journeyman card in general maintenance or hydraulics preferred.
• Experience reading electrical prints and schematics required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain on your feet for prolonged periods.
• Ability to regularly use hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements involving frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching.
• Ability to routinely lift approximately 30 to 35 pounds.
• Visual ability to read instructions, interpret prints, and inspect equipment and parts for maintenance or repair needs.
