Scrub Technician – Surgical Services Highlights

• Pay Rate: Based on experience, $46.00-$54.00 per hour.
• Location: St. Joseph and Niles, MI
• Schedule: Variable; primarily days with call required (Open Heart call required 10 days/month)
• Shift Length: 8-hour shifts
• Employment Type: Full-time, Contract
• Work Type Profile: MSP

Technical Skills

Must Have:

• Open Heart and Cardiovascular surgical experience
• Proficiency in Ortho, Neuro, General Surgery, and Cysto procedures
• CST or CSFA certification
• BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Prepare case tables with equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, and medications/solutions for each surgical case.
• Provide sterile instruments and supplies during surgical procedures.
• Perform surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
• Assist with patient positioning and maintain protective positioning throughout the case.
• Collaborate with physicians to update preference cards and align surgical specialties.
• Identify and suggest instrument set changes and work with SPD to address equipment needs.
• Engage in case costing discussions, identify cost savings, and suggest waste reduction measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology (Associate’s degree or equivalent).
• Experience:
• 3+ years of surgical technology experience preferred.
• Strong aptitude for working with high-tech surgical equipment.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to multitask under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
• Certifications:
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) – Required.
• BLS Certification (AHA or ARC) – Required upon start.
