Senior CNC Milling Machinist — Multi‑Axis Setup & ProductionA day in your life at ACAL Precision Products

You arrive, review the day’s travelers and drawings, and map out the complete journey from raw stock to a finished, in‑tolerance part. You choose the right workholding and cutting tools, set up the CNC mill, dial in offsets, and run a first‑article check with micrometers and thread gauges. As production runs, you verify dimensions at key intervals, make smart tool and program adjustments, and troubleshoot anything that could impact quality or throughput. You keep the cell tidy, stay vigilant on safety and quality procedures, and close your shift with accurate documentation and a clean, organized work area.

Core responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC machines for production and one‑off work
• Select, install, and fine‑tune tooling and workholding to suit materials and features
• Interpret blueprints, layouts, engineering drawings, and GD&T to plan operations
• Define machining sequences and end‑to‑end processes from raw material to final part
• Inspect first‑article and in‑process parts; verify dimensions throughout the run
• Perform offsets, tool changes, and machine adjustments to maintain capability
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to protect quality and efficiency
• Maintain a clean, orderly workstation and adhere to all safety and quality procedures

What you bring

• 5+ years of hands‑on CNC machining experience
• Deep knowledge of machining fundamentals, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds
• Proven ability to read prints and apply GD&T requirements
• Track record of autonomous job setup with minimal supervision
• Competence inspecting parts using standard metrology tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a problem‑solving mindset

• 3‑ to 4‑axis CNC vertical machining centers (Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Hurco)
• 5‑axis (and higher) CNC vertical machining centers
• Horizontal machining centers (3–4 axis) — Makino
• Thread gauges (GO/NO‑GO)
• Calipers and micrometers

Physical and workstyle expectations

• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Stand for extended periods
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Collaborative, team‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently
