Director of Elementary and Secondary Curriculum

Salary: Per Contract

Start Date: June 2026

Work Year: 12 Months

General Responsibility:

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, the Director of Elementary and Secondary Curriculum is responsible for the coordination, implementation, evaluation, and interpretation of the total PreK – 12 curricular program of the school district.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Michigan Continuing Teaching Certificate, Michigan Administrator’s Certification (or eligible to obtain), and any additional certification that is subsequently mandated by the MDE.

• MA degree (with course work in administration and curriculum development).

• Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.

• Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience.

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and community members.

• Effective in communicating ideas in written and oral formats.

• Evidence of experience in curriculum review and development.

• Such additional or alternative qualifications as may be determined by the Board of Education or the Superintendent.

Sample Duties:

• Develop and revise written curriculum guides and course outlines through cooperative action with teaching and administrative staff.

• Coordinate activities involving textbook and software review and recommendations for change or adoption.

• Supervise and coordinate the distribution of all instructional materials.

• Coordinate all district testing activities.

• Coordinate in-service training and professional development activities.

• Coordinate all aspects of the Title I grant and other curriculum grants.

• Coordinate all School Improvement activities and reporting.

• Coordinate curricular services with the Macomb Intermediate School District.

• Assume other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
