As part of this team, you will accelerate architectural efforts to improve data processing latencies by orders of magnitude, create comprehensive patient health records that scale to national populations, and build a massive-scale health data lake to power intelligent health services.

In partnership with OCI engineering teams, you'll engage in the advancement and early adoption of cutting-edge big data, data lake, and data warehouse technologies. The platform has a global footprint, requiring innovation to support diverse data laws, content, and formats.
We're looking for a highly skilled, experienced engineer to lead the design and implementation of high-scale, cloud-based systems capable of handling massive data volumes with low latency. You will collaborate with engineering teams and executive leadership, providing technical direction and delivering impactful software products.
Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.

Build and scale cloud services on modern OCI infrastructure.

Establish best practices across the software lifecycle, from design to development, testing, and production.

Provide technical leadership to ensure high engineering and operational quality.

Optimize data pipelines for high throughput and low latency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders-to deliver impactful AI/ML solutions.

Champion integration of AI/ML capabilities, including LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), into large-scale data systems and intelligent workflows.

Ensure data quality, governance, and responsible AI use throughout the model lifecycle.

Stay current on emerging AI/ML advancements and proactively drive adoption of relevant innovations into platform architecture and engineering practices.

Advocate for AI/ML best practices and technical excellence across teams and departments.

Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

Contribute to design and review of technical architecture across the broader Health Data & Intelligence (HDI) organization.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree required.
-
12+ years of experience designing and building distributed systems for SaaS/IaaS platforms.

Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, C++, Go, or similar.

Deep expertise in big data processing, stream and batch pipelines, unstructured and structured storage, and technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.

Demonstrated technical ownership of large-scale systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production software systems (e.g., inference pipelines, metadata enrichment, LLMs, model serving at scale).

Familiarity with the AI/ML lifecycle, including data preparation, model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and governance.

Strong understanding of current AI/ML trends, including large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

Ability to influence and align teams toward shared architectural vision and modern engineering standards.

Proven success in mentoring engineers and contributing to cross-org technical strategy.

Experience collaborating with product management, data science, and engineering leadership in complex, regulated domains like healthcare is a plus.

Bonus: Familiarity with GenAI infrastructure, vector search integration, and AI observability tools and practices.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
