A Look into Your Day
The Full Time Branch Manager position at Mercantile Bank offers an exciting opportunity to manage our Virtual Branch offices located in Petoskey and Traverse City. You will be responsible for achieving sales goals while ensuring the efficient operation of both branches and supervising staff effectively, both in-person and virtually. A self-starter with strong decision-making and communication skills, you'll lead your team in delivering superior service and support to bank customers. This role requires frequent travel to both locations, allowing you to maintain a strong presence in each market.
You will cultivate banking relationships with Commercial, Mortgage, and Treasury partners while actively promoting our brand within the community. Additionally, you will oversee staff development and training, implement internal controls to ensure compliance, and engage in cross-selling products to enhance customer relationships. Through your leadership, you will foster a culture of excellence where customer focus is paramount, and team success is a shared goal.
What We're Looking For
To excel as a Full Time Branch Manager at Mercantile Bank, candidates must bring a robust set of skills and experiences. A minimum of 5-8 years in banking, particularly within a branch environment focused on sales, is essential. Candidates should have proven lending experience in consumer, commercial, or mortgage sectors, along with branch leadership and management expertise.
Proficiency in technology is vital, as the role requires skillful multitasking across various computer programs and tools. Education requirements include a two-year college degree or equivalent job-specific training or certifications. Success in this position hinges on several competencies: advanced sales and customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities, diplomacy in conflict resolution, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
- Experience: 5 - 8 years
- Ability to travel between branch locations
- Previous banking experience in a branch environment required with an emphasis on Sales
- Lending experience (consumer, commercial or mortgage)
- Branch Leadership/Management experience
- Proficient in using technology and possesses the ability to multi-task using a variety of computer programs.
- Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
- Equivalent job-related education and/or experience will be considered if the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the functions of the job are proven.
