The Role

GM is in the midst of a major transformation - and software is at the center of it. We're looking for a Program Manager, Technical Storytelling with a background in engineering or computer science to support executive communications and technical storytelling across the Services and Software organization.

This is not a traditional writing role. This is for someone who's led technical work, understands complexity, and can distill it into clear, strategic narratives for audiences ranging from engineers to the board of directors.

You'll work directly with senior technical leadership, gaining broad visibility into the organization's priorities and helping communicate what we're building, why it matters, and how it moves GM forward. You'll also help identify where internal and executive communication channels can better inform and align the broader company.

What You'll Do

  • Create executive-level content (presentations, technical summaries, short videos) that communicates key software priorities and progress.

  • Simplify complex technical information into messaging that resonates with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to surface insights and shape them into compelling stories.

  • Align messaging across teams to ensure consistency in tone, vision, and priorities.

  • Identify opportunities to better use internal communication channels to keep GM teams informed and engaged.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of experience in a technical leadership role that required strategic communications.

  • Proven ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging narratives and visual materials.

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and basic video shooting and editing tools.

  • Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.

The salary range for this role is $194,000 - $297,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

This role is based remotely, but if the selected candidate lives within a specific mile radius of a GM hub, they will be expected to report to the location three times a week {or other frequency dictated by your manager}.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
