Heavy Duty Diesel Technician

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Duty Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers) and class 8 semi-trucks and trailers . The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, is self-driven, and takes pride in quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
• Perform regular maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment and trucks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Troubleshoot engine performance issues using diagnostic tools and software.
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets compliance and safety standards.
• Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment safely.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop and work area.
• Communicate with supervisors and operations staff regarding equipment issues and repair timelines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in diesel equipment repair (construction equipment and/or semis).
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software (e.g., Cummins Insite, CAT ET, Detroit DiagnosticLink).
• Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
• Own set of tools.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• ASE or OEM certifications are a plus.
