Allendale Public School District is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Social Worker for a full-time temporary assignment serving 4th and 5th grade students in the Wyoming, Michigan area. This role is vital in supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of our upper-elementary students during a critical academic and developmental stage. The School Social Worker will collaborate closely with educators, families, and student support teams to provide targeted interventions, individual and group counseling, and crisis response, while also helping to foster a safe and inclusive school climate.

• Provide individual and group counseling services to 4th and 5th grade students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.

• Assist students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and self-regulation techniques.

• Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and contribute to the development of behavior intervention plans (BIPs).

• Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students receiving special education services.

• Serve as a related service provider and attend IEP meetings, providing social-emotional data and recommendations.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, assessments, and progress notes.

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and special education staff to support student needs.

• Consult with staff on classroom interventions and strategies for managing student behavior and mental health concerns.

• Serve as a liaison between the school, home, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students and families.

• Provide crisis counseling and support for students experiencing trauma, grief, or acute emotional distress.

• Participate in school-wide crisis response and planning efforts.

• Support school-wide initiatives focused on mental health awareness, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports.

• Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.

• Full or temporary School Social Worker Approval through the Michigan Department of Education.

• Experience working in a K12 school setting, preferably at the elementary level.

• Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral intervention techniques.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

• Prior experience supporting students in grades 45.

• Familiarity with Michigan special education laws and MTSS frameworks.

• Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus (not required).
