Service Parts Release Engineer Location Oak Park, MI : Description:

Bollinger Motors is seeking a Service Parts Engineering Specialist to deliver Bollinger Motors service parts breakdown, strategy, and release. In addition, will also be responsible for electronic parts catalog processes, issues, packaging guidelines and enhancements. This position reports to the Commercial Aftersales Network Director. This is an in-person role at the company's Oak Park, MI headquarters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Contribute & support design / analysis documentation, Specifications, Design Practices, BoM (Bill of Materials), packaging requirements, packing dimensions, labeling, branding, etc.
• Evaluates and reviews new products and engineering changes for the department in coordination with concerned departments to determine viability of service part production, packaging, warehousing and distribution.
• Undertakes the requisition of official documents needed for the product namely, assembly manual, adjustment standard, assembly drawings, quality control process chart, equipment / tools and jig list, inspection result report, checklist, bill of materials for new product transfer.
• Prepares quality improvement requisition and provides this to the Designer for an immediate change on the process, drawings, manual of assembly, line arrangements in cases when quality problems are noted or for the purpose of introducing further improvements and cost reduction.
• You will be responsible for driving the qualification and re-qualification of new and current suppliers, in concordance with SWP (Spell Out SWP) internal procedures.
• Ability to understand part, sub-assembly and system dimensional layouts.
• Analyze and resolve engineering deviations, suggestions, and internal/external customer inquiries relative to service parts.
• Electronic Parts Catalog Support & Issue Resolution. Perform planning activities for availability & translation of parts catalog for on-time delivery prior to vehicle launch.
• Determine illustration needs and coordinate shared usage amongst & within aftersales organizations.
• Assist in Serviceability of Design with product engineers and aftersales stakeholders in developing service part strategies and Subsystem Service Plans
• Identify, develop and release responsible service parts in accordance with all Aftersales milestones for assigned global and local vehicle programs.
• Investigate and resolve interchangeability of existing service parts concurrent with the release of new service parts.
• Acts as a member of technical teams for body, electrical, chassis and exterior trim components and systems.
• Maintain communications, build relationships, and represent Aftersales, Engineering and Purchasing with all downstream functions and internal customers.
• Assisting, where needed, that quality assurance plans are in place for all new product developments.
• Assist purchasing in handling supplier related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Participating in interdisciplinary and cross-functional workgroups and projects with Supplier Quality Team
• Supporting the cross-regional alignment by regularly sharing lessons learned across the different Business Unit teams.
• Assist in supplier plant quality and field warranty concerns as they relate to purchased electrical, interior, exterior trim, chassis, body components and systems.
• Share & communicate knowledge.
• Guide & train others.
• Identify & utilize networks.

• Strong proven problem-solving ability.
• Understand engineering drawing specification and requirements.
• Experience with tooling and how it affects parts.
• Good understanding of vehicle builds processes.
• Thorough knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control)
• Thorough computer knowledge such as word processor, spreadsheet and other PC applications or mainframe applications to resolve complex problems in day-to-day situations.
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of Mechanical Engineering knowledge, Electrical knowledge, Customer Focus
• Good communication and social skills, both verbal and written
• Scientific approach (6 sigma, analytic methods, etc.)
• Willing to travel up to 10%
• Bachelor's and University Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in service parts (Product, Tooling and Equipment, Process, Materials)
• 5+ years of component design, development & manufacturing experience at the OCM/OEM level
• 2+ years of experience in the areas of Quality Management and Series Quality Assurance in other production-related units, Development, Planning, and/or Technical Procurement
