Axios Professional Recruitment is searching for an Engineering Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity with our client in Grand Rapids, MI. The selected candidate will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in the design and delivery of advanced OEM equipment and automation systems. This role requires proven leadership in OEM manufacturing, project execution, and product lifecycle management—driving innovation, efficiency, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Development : Manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and performance.
• Engineering Excellence : Improve design, development, and testing workflows to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Product & System Development : Guide the design, prototyping, and testing of equipment aligned with strategic goals.
• Cross-functional Collaboration : Collaborate with production, QA, supply chain, and sales to ensure project success.
• Manufacturing Techniques Expertise : Use knowledge of metal fabrication to improve design and reduce costs.
• Automation & Controls : Ensure reliable control systems meet performance and industry standards.
• Project Management : Lead multiple projects, balancing scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Performance Management : Set and track KPIs aligned with strategic objectives; coach team members regularly.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing : Maintain clear records of processes and solutions for internal knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

• Education : Bachelors in mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field. Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
• Experience : 8+ years in engineering leadership, including 5+ years in OEM equipment and automation. Foam or PU experience a plus.
• Technical Skills : Strong background in metal fabrication, automation systems, and complex machinery integration.
• CAD Expertise : Proficient in Autodesk Inventor; skilled in optimizing for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
• Problem Solving : Strong analytical and decision-making skills for technical and organizational challenges.
• Project Management : Experienced in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities under strategic alignment.
• Government Exposure : DoD or government contract experience is a plus.
• Strategic Alignment : Able to turn long-term goals into clear engineering objectives.
