Veterinary Assistant, Emergency
Location: Byron Center, MI
Schedule: Part Time & Full Time Available | FT Hours Are 3 Twelve Hour Shifts Per Week -Overnight Availability Required | Rotating Weekends & Holidays | Shift Bids Every 6 Months
Compensation: $17-25/hr Dependent On Experience | $3/Hour Shift Differential (Hours Between 11pm & 7am)

Our 10,000 sq. ft. hospital is open 24/7 and offers advanced care in Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and Cardiology. In Your Day-To-Day, You Will

• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments and procedures.
• Perform technical tasks; IVC placement, medication administration, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, patient monitoring, etc.
• Monitor anesthesia using ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, and NIBP.
• Provide pre- and post-surgical care and assist with surgical prep and recovery for patients.
• Handle and process laboratory samples for submission to local and offsite labs.
• Accurately obtain and relay detailed patient histories.
• Document records, treatment and diagnostics into systems (EzyVet and SmartFlow).
• Communicate effectively with clients on treatment plans, estimates, and discharge instructions including callbacks and updates.
• Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, review of estimates, and follow-up care.
• Support hospital cleanliness, safety protocols and inventory management.
• Additional duties as requested by hospital leadership.

What You Bring

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant , with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• A dependable, positive attitude and the ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, client-focused approach and a commitment to exceptional service.
• A collaborative, team-first mindset and a desire to contribute to a supportive, respectful, and drama-free workplace.
• A genuine love for animals and a dedication to providing high-quality care for every patient while supporting your teammates.
• Fluent English (spoken and written) is required; bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
