Who We Are Looking For

Slate is seeking an Intern, Vehicle Integration Engineer to do hands-on, real-world engineering work that directly contributes to the performance, comfort, and refinement of our vehicles. This role combines analytical work, instrumentation, on-vehicle testing, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering groups such as Chassis, Electrical, and Powertrain. What You Get To Do

  • Install and configure vehicle controller area network (CAN) instrumentation systems on prototype vehicles.
  • Work with data collected and transmitted to cloud servers to identify specific issues and the conditions under which those issues arise.
  • Develop analytics dashboards for management review of data like fleet performance / efficiency data, usage metrics, open issues, and requirements validation status.
  • Work with cross-functional engineers to identify signals and triggers beneficial to vehicle data analysis and implement those into the data collection systems.
  • Assist engineers and managers in using the data reporting tools and dashboards created to capture key performance indicators.
  • Support vehicle level testing and validation of functional objectives through our requirement management system.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must be graduating between August 2026 and May 2029.
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week).
  • Interest in vehicle communication networks, telematics, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with or eagerness to learn tools such as Python and Grafana is a plus.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and vehicle / plant environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 10%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
