Step into the Press Shop and Lead Die Readiness

Picture your shift starting with a floor walk through a high-energy stamping plant. You review the die lineup, verify that production-critical tooling is ready, and huddle with your crew to align on priorities. Throughout the shift, you orchestrate maintenance windows, tackle urgent die issues, and keep production moving. You’re the front-line leader for die maintenance in large-format stamping, ensuring uptime and quality for major sheet metal and Class A surface dies up to 96" x 180".

Schedule & Location

• Monday–Friday, onsite at our manufacturing facility
• Shift flexibility required: 2nd (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) or 3rd (10:00 PM–6:30 AM)
• Report 30 minutes before the scheduled shift start
• Every other weekend coverage; overtime and holiday work may be required based on demand
• Onsite only (no remote/hybrid). Shift assignments may change to meet operational needs and salaried shift requests.

What You Will Lead

• End-to-end die maintenance execution aligned to production plans
• Readiness of production-critical dies: functional, available, and staged
• Prioritization of die issues by severity, quality impact, and throughput risk
• Hands-on technical support when needed, while primarily operating as a leader
• Troubleshooting and resolution of die-related quality concerns
• Coordination of die maintenance windows and changeovers
• Daily production/maintenance coordination meetings and end-of-shift written lineups to drive strong shift-to-shift communication
• Direct leadership of 7–10 skilled trades employees: Die Makers, Machine Repair Technicians, and Electricians
• Close partnership with Production and Maintenance leadership
• Strict adherence to safety, housekeeping, and plant policies while supporting SPQRC objectives (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost)
• Delivery of work to schedule, manpower, and budget targets

What You Bring

• 5–10 years of stamping die experience in manufacturing
• Deep knowledge of stamping processes, die construction, and large-format dies (major sheet metal/Class A)
• Understanding of automation systems supporting stamping operations
• Proven leadership of skilled trades teams with the confidence to make real-time decisions
• Journeyman Die Maker certification or equivalent practical experience
• Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability
• Clear verbal and written communication across hourly teams and plant leadership
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays

Preferred

• Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field
• Formal skilled trades training
• High-volume automotive stamping experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email tools

Work Environment & Expectations

• High-activity stamping plant environment
• Mandatory early arrival: 30 minutes before shift start
• Shift flexibility between 2nd and 3rd based on business needs
• Rotating weekend participation
• Onsite presence required
