- The Architectural Partnerships & Specifications Specialist plays a dual role—building strategic national relationships with leading A/E/C firms while driving product adoption through project-level specification influence. This position combines high-level business development with deep technical expertise, ensuring our clients' building products are both preferred in principle and written into specifications that guide project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with national A/E/C firms, architects, engineers, specifiers, and design-build contractors to position the company’s products as standard solutions. Conduct best-in-class follow-up with prospects and existing clients to nurture relationships and move opportunities through the sales pipeline.
- Research and identify new project leads, architect firms, and general contractors to target for future engagement.
- Develop high quality specifications for design or future projects - this is going to start from lunch and learn (L&L) & or Arch lead (in-person and virtual). Follow the project from L&L to post bid - making sure our specifications are held, and the architect, specifier and contractor sales team has support.
- Secure project specifications by collaborating directly with architects, specifiers, and design professionals, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes.
- Track project pipelines and firm adoption trends, providing insight to guide long-term strategic planning and product innovation.
- Develop high quality relationships with the designers and specifiers at the firms.
- Review drawings, specifications, and design documents to identify opportunities for product inclusion and defend against substitutions and value engineering risks.
- Update CRM system with meeting notes, sales activities, and pipeline status. Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports for management.
- Schedule and coordinate upcoming travel, meetings, and presentations to maximize efficiency and coverage.
- Work closely with internal teams (sales, marketing, customer service) to ensure seamless execution of business development and specification strategies.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years working with architects, general contractors, and installers in building envelope or related construction products; continuous insulation experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of architectural design processes, CSI Master Format, and specification writing best practices.
- Proven ability to influence both executive-level decision-makers and project-level specifiers.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred; CSI CDT/CCS certifications a plus; advanced training in building science, product marketing, or business development highly desirable.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 115k - 125k/year range, plus variable incentive/commission: 10% - 25% of base tied to spec wins, and project conversions
