Staff Accountant | Battle Creek, MI

Salary Range: $62,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Battle Creek seeking Staff Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and inventory.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Participate in cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation and variance analysis.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
• Maintain and update accounting records and ledgers in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries and perform general ledger account analysis.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Experience with inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
• - Understanding of inventory costing methods (e.g., standard costing, FIFO, LIFO)
• - Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements
