Electrical Wiring Coordinator - Global Artisan Innovation Center

General Motors
Warren, MI

Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard — from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Electrical Wiring Coordinator at the Global Artisan Innovation Center (GAIC) supports electrical technicians in diagnosing and repairing wiring issues during vehicle build events in the electrical crib and on the General Assembly build floor. This role also provides support for Assembly Plant build events and other launch activities in alignment with the Global Vehicle Development Plan (GVDP).

You will act as the issue champion for electrical concerns identified during build events, using strong technical judgment, problem‑solving skills, and initiative to drive timely resolution.

What You’ll Do

Support new vehicle launches by resolving electrical build issues during pre‑production, validation, and launch activities at GAIC and GM Assembly Plants.

Lead root‑cause analysis, containment, correction, and follow‑up for electrical, product, process, software, calibration, release, and material‑related issues.

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, suppliers, and UAW‑represented teams to resolve build issues and improve electrical system performance.

Support wiring harness and supplier launch activities, including launch protection plans, manufacturing assessments, process improvements, and readiness for key build milestones.

Review and interpret vehicle wiring drawings, electrical schematics, and bill‑of‑material systems to diagnose issues and drive effective problem solving.

Use GM systems (including PRTS JIRA and other plant quality tools) to document issues, track progress, and drive closure prior to launch.

Support plant electrical testing, rework activity, and early build readiness through standardized documentation, test tools, and repair guidance.

Capture lessons learned and recommend process and/or design improvements to strengthen future launches and reduce repeat issues.

Required Qualifications

Proficiency with common electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope).

Experience with serial data communication protocols (such as GMLAN, MOST, and/or LIN) and related test tools (e.g., NeoVI, DPS Tool).

Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for complex electrical and system issues.

Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

Demonstrated ability to make sound, timely decisions with a strong focus on safety.

Experience with automotive electrical systems, functional sub‑systems, and Electric/Hybrid/Autonomous vehicle systems.

Ability to learn and operate within GM systems, including:

Wiring schematics and electrical drawing interpretation

ABAT (As Built As Tested Bill of Materials)

Teamcenter

Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Demonstrated skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and vehicle repair technology.

Strong interpersonal skills that support effective teamwork and problem solving.

Self‑motivated and innovative, with the ability to summarize complex issues for non‑technical audiences.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.

Certifications or specialized training in vehicle programming, diagnostics, or automotive electrical systems.

Experience coordinating large cross‑functional teams within a build or launch environment.
