Junior Test Engineer

IAV Automotive is seeking highly motivated Junior Test Engineers to support emission test execution – this involves vehicle preparation, submitting emission testing requests and tracking testing activities. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of engine and emission systems. This role is essential in ensuring timely shop requests for vehicle preparation, valid and timely completion of emission testing and coordination with drivability, emission and onboard diagnosis calibration teams.

Requirements
Essential Responsibilities & Activities:
- Support the review and planning of testing requirements related to drivability, emissions compliance, and on-board diagnostics (OBD) calibration, ensuring test objectives align with program schedules and regulatory standards.
- Assist in coordinating with engineering and calibration teams to identify required vehicle hardware and software configurations, acquire necessary parts, and ensure test readiness.
- Submit and track work orders with internal or external workshops to support vehicle preparation, modifications, instrumentation, and maintenance ahead of emissions testing.
- Coordinate with testing facilities and laboratories to schedule emissions, durability, and validation tests, ensuring availability of test cells, equipment, and vehicles.
- Support test execution activities by ensuring proper documentation, setup verification, and adherence to established test procedures and safety guidelines.
- Review and validate test data following execution to confirm test completeness, data accuracy, and compliance with test plans, escalating concerns when anomalies are identified.
- Maintain accurate parts and configuration logs, ensuring traceability of vehicle build status throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Track emissions test results, organize datasets, and prepare summary reports and documentation for review by calibration and engineering teams.
- Assist in identifying trends or potential issues from test results and support follow-up actions such as re-tests or corrective measures.
- Ensure all test records, results, and documentation are stored in accordance with internal quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Domestic and International travel, if necessary
- All other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Technology (or relevant technical discipline) required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience understanding vehicle systems, especially engine and powertrain systems validation, diagnostic tools or data logging systems, sensors, and emissions systems.
- Abilities to navigate multiple software portals and data interfaces.
- Familiarity with OBD diagnostic concepts, powertrain systems, or vehicle monitoring tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation skills required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple engineering departments.
- Strong proficiency with verbal and written communication skills, analytical problem solving, and creativity.
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, or scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink / ASCET; ETAS INCA and MDA; MS Office suite a plus
