Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 educational institution in Niles, MI, is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position is anticipated to be primarily a one-to-one assignment supporting a student requiring specialized communication access.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license meeting all state requirements
• Proven experience interpreting in K-12 settings, preferably in one-to-one roles
• Strong knowledge of educational terminology and ability to facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and families
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in diverse school environments

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective interpretation services for a student requiring one-on-one support
• Collaborate closely with the educational team to facilitate full participation in classroom activities and school programs
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all applicable educational and privacy regulations
• Attend necessary meetings, trainings, and school events as required throughout the contract term
