Optician - Full time - Westland

General Summary Responsible for selecting, measuring, and fitting eyewear following the doctors’ spectacle prescription specifications. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Customize the patient’s spectacle prescription using the E.A.R.N. for Eyewear Consultants process methodology and trouble-shooting any previous eyewear issues Communicate the preferred lens family of products and the benefits of each Have knowledge of each frame line and the material it is made of to properly pre-adjust the frame prior to measurements Conduct and record various measurements that are required to fabricate the lenses Input and process eyewear orders into the software program for the optical laboratory Follow up with eyewear orders through completion and delivery Ensure visual displays and eyewear products are clean in accordance with the store specific plan-o-gram Interpret, explain, and properly apply vision insurance coverage; assist with dispensing, adjusting, and trouble-shooting eyewear Assist with front desk duties such as checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments, and retrieving insurance eligibility Neutralize and verify the spectacle prescription in the eyewear through the use of auto and manual lensometry, as needed Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required Requires high school diploma or GED Previous computer experience and basic math skills preferred Previous customer service, retail, or hospitality experience preferred Previous dispensing/optical experience preferred Must be able to walk, bend and stand for extended periods of time; completion of all required training courses as directed by Henry Ford Optimeyes Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service Policy Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services Working Conditions Works in retail optical environment Requires evening and weekend hours Additional Information Organization: Community Care Services Department: HF Optimeyes Westland SVC Stor Shift: Rotating Union Code: Not Applicable Seniority level Associate Employment type Full-time Job function Health Care Provider Industries Hospitals and Health Care, Insurance, and Wellness and Fitness Services #J-18808-Ljbffr Henry Ford Health
