Industrial Automation Controls Specialist Why this role matters
Join a team that builds, designs, and troubleshoots electrical and automation systems that keep manufacturing moving. You’ll convert specifications into reliable control solutions and support customers through testing, launch, and beyond.
What you’ll do- Turn customer-supplied robot logic and I/O data into complete control configurations and network topologies
- Produce and refine controls designs to meet project goals, addressing challenges as they arise
- Investigate and develop new approaches for robot controls engineering
- Perform verification and validation to confirm designs function as intended
- Design operator-friendly HMIs and graphical user interfaces
- Configure and program software across PLCs, robots, and peripheral systems
- Author control sequences and interlocks for automated operations
- Deliver complete system documentation (drawings, code comments, manuals)
- Train customers and provide ongoing technical support
- Test and debug systems to achieve reliable performance
- Handle additional tasks as assigned by management
- Robotics platforms: Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki, Motoman Robotics
- PLC ecosystems: RSLogix 5000, Siemens S7, TIA Portal, and related toolchains
- Vision systems: Keyence, Cognex, Teledyne Dalsa, and comparable platforms
- Background that demonstrates capability; various combinations of education/experience considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- About 5 years of hands-on field experience or an equivalent track record
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation discipline
- Ability to prioritize effectively and progress multiple projects in parallel
- Supervisory responsibilities: None
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Critical thinking and systems analysis
- Rigorous, analytical approach to engineering problems
- Documenting complex technical work with clarity
- Managing competing priorities without losing momentum
