Job Description
The Job Site Architect serves as Mosher Design’s on-site architectural representative for active projects. Rather than managing schedules or coordinating contractors, this role focuses on design integrity and construction quality—working directly in the field to review progress, solve problems with installers, and ensure projects are built exactly as intended.
While most comparable to a high-end residential project manager, this position differs in that it is strictly architectural oversight, not project management.
The majority of your time will be spent in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit active job sites to review construction progress and workmanship
- Collaborate directly with contractors and installers to resolve field conditions
- Ensure all work aligns with Mosher Design’s architectural intent and standards
- Conduct supplier visits and assist with material coordination as needed
- Identify potential issues early and provide practical, design-driven solutions
- Serve as the quality-control extension of our design team in the field
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on construction/architectural experience
- Strong working knowledge of foundations, flatwork, vertical masonry, and general outdoor construction
- Ability to read plans and visualize finished architectural outcomes
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working directly with trades
- Possesses an architectural/design sensibility
- Reliable personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursed)
Travel
- Most projects located in Southeast Michigan
- Occasional additional travel may be required
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000–$75,000 starting salary, based on experience and qualifications.
