Travel RN – Med/Surg Job Details

• Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (20-6650 Med Surg - GSU)
• Employment Type: Travel RN (locum tenens)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 16 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 1/12/2026)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Limited holiday requests
• Float Requirement: May float to other Med/Surg, ICU, and ED units as needed
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1840 - $1890

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (Registered Nurse – Michigan)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Strong post-surgical nursing competencies
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions accepted)
• Professional references required
• First-time travel nurses welcome to apply

Travel RN – Med/Surg Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a busy 47-bed Med/Surg unit
• Manage patient ratios of 1:6 during night shifts and weekends
• Perform and manage the following clinical skills and procedures:
• Telemetry (remote cardiac monitoring)
• Colostomy and feeding tube care
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
• Accessing ports and administering blood products
• Peripheral and PICC line care/management
• Starting IVs, administering Heparin and Insulin
• PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management
• Oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank use
• Tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions, wound care, wound vac

• Float to other units (Med/Surg, ICU, ED) as needed for clinical support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, Physical Therapy (PT), Respiratory Therapy (RT), and Pharmacy
• Comply with holiday and weekend scheduling requirements
