This role requires becoming a certified applicator and maintaining expertise in the treatment and maintenance of lakes, ponds, and other water bodies. Additional duties include controlling algae and nuisance aquatic vegetation, installing and maintaining fountains and aeration systems, conducting water quality testing, and permit compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct waterbody assessments and determine appropriate treatment plans
  • Perform applications of aquatic herbicides and algaecides to lakes, ponds, and other waterbodies
  • Direct and support field technicians in daily service operations
  • Conduct service visits personally while ensuring team productivity and quality standards
  • Assist with fountain and aeration system installation and maintenance
  • Assist with water quality testing and diagnostics
  • Operate trucks, boats, ATVs, and handheld spray equipment in various outdoor environments
  • Communicate effectively with clients and deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate records of treatments, assessments, and services performed
  • Complete MDEGLE ANC permit applications and year-end treatment reports
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must obtain a Michigan Certified Pesticide Applicator (Core, Category 5, and 6) license within the first 30 days of employment
  • Strong work ethic with a passion for working outdoors
  • Good math and science skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize scheduling and routing effectively
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry a 40-lb. backpack sprayer throughout the day on uneven terrain
  • Comfortable working around waterbodies in variable weather conditions
  • Must have an excellent driving record
  • Ability to pass a drug screening (Drug-Free Workplace)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with aquatic vegetation control and the use of aquatic herbicides/algaecides
  • Experience with fountain and aeration system installation and maintenance
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Current Michigan Certified Pesticide Applicator license or equivalent from another state
  • Experience conducting waterbody assessments and developing treatment plans

Schedule:

Typical work hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Hours may vary during peak season. The Field Technician may also be required to work occasional nights or weekends for client meetings.
