The Resiliency Center Director

Position Summary

The Resiliency Center Director provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the Resiliency Center. This role is responsible for guiding community recovery and resilience efforts following incidents of mass violence by overseeing programs, partnerships, outreach, staff management, and community engagement initiatives. The Director serves as the primary representative of the Center and works collaboratively with internal teams, community partners, government entities, and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and long-term community support.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Direction of Center

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight of all program-related activities, including advocacy, contracting, partnerships, navigation support, and outreach to survivors of mass violence crimes, including victims, family members, responders, witnesses, volunteers, and the impacted community.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Center administrative activities and communications.
  • Oversee strategic planning initiatives for the Resiliency Center, including outreach planning, marketing strategies, scope of services, commemoration planning, and community engagement.
  • Represent the Center as a leader in community recovery and resilience efforts related to mass violence incidents.
  • Represent the Center at local, state, regional, Tribal, and national conferences, forums, and meetings, as appropriate.
  • Collect, track, and report data related to Center usage, services provided, community engagement, and program outcomes.
  • Prepare recurring progress reports and updates regarding Center services, community participation, and program effectiveness.
  • Track and report Center-related expenses, including grants, donations, and in-kind contributions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and oversee Center operations through strategic partnerships and outreach efforts.
  • Serve as staff liaison for advisory committees by scheduling, facilitating, and coordinating bi-monthly meetings and communications.

Staff Leadership & Management

  • Recruit, supervise, and manage Center staff, including but not limited to Victim/Survivor Navigators, Clinical Director, Outreach Coordinator, Community Communications/Media Coordinator, First Responder Coordinator, and Grant Administrator.
  • Plan and coordinate ongoing professional development and skills training opportunities for staff.
  • Lead and guide staff in the strategic development and implementation of community healing programs and services.
  • Supervise employee caseloads, performance goals, and ongoing performance management activities.
  • Foster collaboration among initiatives, staff, and community partners to support organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to support a high-performing and mission-driven team.

Community Partnerships

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Center programs, initiatives, partnerships, and engagement activities.
  • Serve as a strong representative and advocate for the Center and its mission within the community.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations, local service providers, and supporters.
  • Convene community partners to assess needs and strategically implement collaborative programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, elected officials, County and City staff, and organizational partners.
  • Coordinate relationships with subcontractors and navigator host sites, including oversight of MOUs, reporting requirements, and information-sharing processes.

Community Engagement

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to provide support and value to partners and stakeholders.
  • Leverage partnerships and relationships to identify new opportunities for collaboration and community support.
  • Foster innovative thinking and support the development of future partnerships with organizations and community members.
  • Attend community events and activities to promote the Center’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Cultivate community awareness and support by maintaining strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, and individuals.

Results & Outcomes

  • Drive both short-term and long-term community engagement and recovery initiatives.
  • Support the achievement of measurable outcomes aligned with the Center’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Ensure programs and services are responsive to evolving community needs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in health and human services, nonprofit management, organizational management, public relations, communications, marketing, legal studies, social services, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience within the nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
  • Experience in grant writing, grant management, personnel management, program development, strategic planning, partnership management, and volunteer engagement preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex community partnerships.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and community-based support services preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, community members, and organizational partners.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed for community events and meetings.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally for meetings, conferences, and community engagement activities.
  • Primarily office-based with frequent community interaction and outreach responsibilities.
