Interventional Radiologic Technologist - IR Tech
Role Summary:
a talented and experienced Radiology Interventional Technologist to join a dynamic team in a cutting-edge interventional radiology department. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about precision imaging, patient care, and performing advanced, minimally invasive procedures in a high-acuity environment.
Working under the direct supervision of a radiologist, you’ll support complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are critical in the evaluation and treatment of serious medical conditions — particularly in a comprehensive stroke facility. This is a unique opportunity to use your expertise in neurovascular imaging and interventional techniques while contributing to life-saving care.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining protocols and answering questions with compassion and clarity.
Obtain relevant medical history to ensure proper planning and risk mitigation.
Prepare and administer prescribed contrast media, IV solutions, and medications in alignment with protocol.
Set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and advanced imaging systems.
Assist radiologists during complex, invasive procedures by maintaining sterile fields, managing imaging equipment, and supporting the scrub-in process.
Ensure all necessary instruments, catheters, and disposable materials are properly stocked and available.
Assess and monitor patient conditions before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to any clinical changes.
Execute all imaging procedures with attention to ALARA (radiation safety) standards, shielding, and equipment optimization.
Operate and troubleshoot imaging technology, including Siemens systems and integrated PACS platforms.
Complete all post-procedure tasks, including equipment clean-up, 3D imaging processing, and digital archiving.
Manage patient records and image data in the Cerner EMR and RIS systems, ensuring accurate documentation, study indexing, and protocol compliance.
Participate in training and mentoring of new staff or students assigned to the department.
Consistently demonstrate professional standards aligned with patient-centered care, communication excellence, and teamwork.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of interventional radiology experience, including neurological cases.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with advanced credentials in Cardiac-Interventional (CI), Vascular-Interventional (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV) Radiography.
Proficient in sterile technique and assisting in invasive procedures.
Strong understanding of neurovascular anatomy, stroke interventions, and related imaging protocols.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in a comprehensive stroke facility or neuro-interventional environment.
Familiarity with 3D imaging, Siemens imaging systems, and Cerner EMR.
Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with radiologists, physicians, and nursing teams.
Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and responsive in high-pressure procedural settings.
