SUMMARY:
The Municipal Sales Officer develops new municipal/public deposit relationships. They service and manage the existing municipal portfolio, while discovering and acquiring new municipal relationships. Operates within the larger Retail/Treasury Management team to support growth of the deposit portfolio. This individual works independently and alongside Business Development teams, Lenders, Branch Managers, Treasury, and other stakeholders to perform all sales functions including prospecting, offering, overcoming objections, and closing. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS:
- Utilize CRM tools to track and record all aspects of the sales processes, as well as capture client correspondence and exchanges.
- Receive Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and prepare responses in partnership with other stakeholders.
- Provide support to internal and external customers via phone and email.
- Identifies and develops new business opportunities to grow municipal/public deposits and meet goal/revenue objectives.
- Significant Community Involvement, including participating in treasurer meetings, attending conferences, board/committee member, etc.
- Active memberships in the following municipal organizations (MMTA, MGFOA. MACT, MSBO) and CPFIM OR ACPFIM).
- Certification through the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada (APT US&C), or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
- Service and retain existing deposits and grow these relationships.

- The Municipal Officer may present in person to boards or management teams. They cross sell to other business lines and work closely with the cash management team.
- Responsible for on-boarding, smooth implementation, and customer retention. Perform annual reviews on top-tier clients.
- Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Business Administration and 5-10 years outside sales experience promoting bank products/services. Public sector, Municipal, Non-profit or University/School client relationship experience preferred. Other relevant work experience/backgrounds could be considered.
- Certification through the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada (APT US&C), or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
- Basic computer experience including Microsoft Word, Excel and database knowledge along with good typing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively compose original correspondence and verbally exchange information with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Basic math skills include the ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out verbal and written instructions and deal with standardized and unique situations.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
This position is required to deal with internal as well as external customers, in a positive, "Quality Customer Service" manner. An open, willing to assist approach to work is expected along with the ability to work beyond their normal job duties as the situation requires. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required. This position will have access to highly confidential information that must be handled in a professional manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently uses hands and fingers to manage objects and operating equipment such as 10-key pad, calculator, copier, PC keyboard and mouse. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
WORK ENVIROMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate/conversational.
