IATF Quality Engineer | Manistee, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure strict compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead APQP and PPAP activities for new product introductions and engineering changes.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (8D methodology).
• Conduct internal and supplier quality system audits to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans, FMEAs, and statistical process control (SPC).
• Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Manage customer quality complaints, provide timely responses, and drive resolution.

Recommended Qualifications

• Comprehensive understanding and practical application of IATF 16949 standard.
• Proficiency in Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Demonstrated expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Certified IATF 16949 Internal Auditor.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Quality) or a related technical field.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and quality control techniques in a production environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
• Experience utilizing major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) within a quality function
• Certified Lead Auditor for IATF 16949 or other relevant quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 13485)
