PHARMACY TECH CERT HARRISON
Participates in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, and time management.
Remains flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of Pharmacy services.

Compounds, prepares, and labels pharmaceuticals under the direct supervision of the pharmacist and gets a final check of all items leaving the Pharmacy department. Performs and completes quality monitoring and other assignments.
Sterile products. Responsible for the admixing of large volume parenterals, IVPBs, Irrigation solutions, IV stock solutions, and syringes using and following aseptic technique procedures. TPN and chemotherapy compounding which require specialized training may be delegated to the technician upon special testing and quality review. Compliance to the standards of USP 797 and 800 as provisions are made applicable to Pharmacy operations.
Filling of unit dose carts as assigned. Ordinarily cart filling will be performed utilizing Fastpak Automed and manual fill. Specific technicians are primarily assigned these functions.
Unit dose medication cart delivery to patient care units as assigned.
Answering all incoming phone calls, assisting where possible and transferring when necessary to pharmacists.
Basic dispensing skills in EPIC and some other verifiable information such as basic IV compatibility checking are required.
Performs all required checks and functions as assigned including refrigerator/freezer temperature checking, date checking in the pharmacy and floor stock, and cleaning.
Dispensing. It is the technician’s responsibility to get the medication in the appropriate location for pharmacist checking and to deliver via appropriate means( pneumatic tube, hand delivery, floor pick up). The majority of this is generated through labels from the EPIC system. Prepacking medications as necessary is required to get the medication into the proper dispensing unit.
Filling of stock and replenishment orders for non-Omnicell departments and filling replenishment orders generated by Omnicell. Filling the Omnicell machines as assigned to maintain stock levels. Performing inventory functions as assigned including maintaining the forms necessary for controlled substances. Provide discrepant information to Pharmacy management. Filling ALS kits and boxes as assigned.
Participates in unit meetings, inservices, and activities which support unit function and the overall goals of the organization. Passing competency exams as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from a Nationally recognized organization.
If exceptions are made, the technician must obtain certification no later than six months after employment or employment will be terminated.
Current Pharmacy Technician Licensure in the State of Michigan.
Previous experience as a hospital pharmacy technician including compounding sterile products.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Math and pharmaceutical proficiency must be demonstrated by testing and observation.
Must be able to work well with the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations.
Includes proper phone etiquette.
Must be able to type and use basic Windows computer applications.
Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.
Ability to work with accuracy and meet established deadlines.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
