Job Description
The Quality Service Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of an advanced electric vehicle (EV) platform. In this position, you conduct inspections and testing, maintain accurate documentation, and provide technical support to ensure all products and services meet established quality standards. You work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold and continuously improve production and service processes, support customer satisfaction, and ensure adherence to internal quality objectives and external regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough inspections and testing of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with established quality standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances in a clear and timely manner, supporting root cause analysis and participating in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to mitigate quality issues.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of quality inspections, test data, and service-related activities in accordance with internal documentation protocols and quality management procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and customer support teams to resolve quality concerns, share findings, and drive continuous improvement in product and process performance.
- Perform product servicing and repairs, ensuring that reworked or refurbished items meet all quality, safety, and functional requirements prior to customer delivery.
- Conduct on-site visits to customer locations, as required, to troubleshoot technical issues, perform repairs, and validate product performance and reliability in the field.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and refinement of quality control procedures, inspection plans, and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and product reliability.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and functionality of inspection tools, test equipment, and diagnostic instruments to maintain accurate and reliable measurement results.
- Comply with all relevant safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies to maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organized work environment.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or a closely related role.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and quality control practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
- Hands-on experience with inspection and testing equipment such as calipers, multimeters, and micrometers.
- Proficiency in quality inspection and visual inspection techniques.
- Ability to accurately document inspection results, non-conformances, and test data.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and customer support teams.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a production and service environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with electric vehicle (EV) platforms, battery systems, or drivetrain components is beneficial.
- Experience in quality technician roles within manufacturing, automotive, or related industries.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancement activities.
- Comfort working in field service situations, including on-site customer visits for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ability to manage multiple inspection and service tasks while maintaining accurate documentation and high quality standards.

Work Environment
You work within an American commercial electric vehicle company focused on medium-duty EVs and hybrids, operating in a setting that blends production, testing, and service activities. The environment centers on a first-of-its-kind EV platform, supported by a team of experienced EV, battery, and drivetrain specialists. You regularly use inspection tools such as calipers, multimeters, micrometers, and other diagnostic instruments to perform quality checks and testing. The role may involve time on the production floor, in service areas, and occasionally at customer sites to troubleshoot and validate vehicle performance in the field. You follow established safety protocols and organizational policies to maintain a safe, compliant, and professional workplace.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgis, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
