Work Schedule: The typical work week is forty (40) hours. During periods of high activity (i.e., during OBR deployments and events), the position may require working during evenings and weekends. This position requires travel. Throughout the year, you can be required to travel for up to 14 consecutive days. Travel is a mandatory requirement of having this position.

Position Summary: The Program Manager – Camp OBR Facilities position (referred to as “The Program Manager” moving forward) acts as Camp OBR’s (referred to as the “Camp” moving forward) facilities superintendent, primary point of contact regarding the general physical operation of the Camp and ambassador and representative for the Camp and Operation BBQ Relief. Major responsibilities of The Program Manager are to provide a clean, attractive, and safe environment for all users of Camp OBR. The Program Manager is responsible for following, implementing, and overseeing all policies and operating procedures at the Camp. In addition to the day-to-day operation of this Camp, the Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and fulfilling logistical responsibilities when the Camp is in session.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Integrate all aspects of the OBR way into day-to-day operations, mentoring and developing the department on the OBR Way.
  • Potential to supervise up to 3 personnel as a Manager.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff as needed.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for personnel assigned.
Essential Functions:
  • Efficiently and orderly operate the Camp to keep it neat and attractive providing year-round maintenance, restoration, rehabilitation, sanitation, cleaning, supervision of all operational activities, keeping the Camp neat and attractive.
  • Responsible for Camp user orientation and site supervision, and education of Camp attendees, establishing good relations with all Camp users.
  • Promote the use of the Camp whenever appropriate, always being a good ambassador and representative for the Camp and Operation BBQ Relief.
  • Identify local groups/organizations throughout the year and speak at their meetings to bring awareness to Camp OBR.
  • Ensure on-site events are done “The OBR Way” in compliance with Operation BBQ Relief policies, procedures, expectations, standards and Corporate Culture.
  • Responsible for the set-up, operation, and break down of events at the Camp, ensuring all educational facilities are maintained, prepared, and ready for utilization no less than 48 hours prior to any event starting.
  • Maintain records and inventories of Camp equipment and supplies, identifying equipment and supplies needing to be replaced or repaired & ordering supplies as needed
  • Identify health, fire and safety hazards; inform leadership and the proper authorities of such hazards and take necessary remedial actions immediately.
  • Provide general upkeep and maintenance of all dwellings, buildings, and structures.
  • Work in unison with supervisor to manage and assign duties as necessary for the camp host volunteer staying on site.
  • Create and document OBR Cleaning & Maintenance Standards for the Camp.
  • Keep all buildings and furnishings safe, clean and in good repair. Emphasis will be placed on:
    • Toilets, urinals, and shower areas
    • Floors, walls, windows, and doors
    • Light fixtures
    • Walkways and porches
    • Kitchen and dining hall
    • Minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs will be performed as needed.
  • Keep all equipment, clean and in good working condition, properly stored, and used only for the intended purposes.
  • Maintain the grounds by keeping grass neatly mowed and trimmed, removing trash and any downed trees and branches.
  • Practice energy conservation for the residence and the Camp facilities.
  • Ensure all facilities are properly winterized, and operable for Camp opening each Spring.
  • Winterize and inspect the camp after any major weather event.
  • Use off-peak times for general maintenance, brush clearing and other duties that are not otherwise performed while the Camp is in use.
  • Walk through each facility at least weekly to make sure everything is operational and there is no damage even during the winter months.
  • Responsible for the Camp security by keeping all buildings and entrances appropriately locked, observing the grounds during scheduled activities, identifying trespassers, and notifying proper authorities as necessary.
  • Cooperate and assist with OBR volunteers at the Camp for OBR volunteer activities.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Maintenance Plan with audit-ready logs for facilities, on-site systems, vehicle fleets, and general facility upkeep.
  • Maintain a log of tasks for facilities improvement which can be used to coordinate service projects, volunteer events or be completed in off-peak times.
  • Coordinate with and manage relationships with facility vendors, tracking expenses to ensure accuracy in the development of the physical operations budget.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and work with various Operation BBQ Relief departments including, but not limited to, Culinary, Programs, Marketing, Technology, Volunteers, and Operations.
  • Communicate directly with Culinary and Programs for educational content, to ensure that educational content is consistent across the OBR enterprise.
  • Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to, expense submissions, paperwork, forms, company-assigned trainings, and document reviews.
  • Work with supervisor to complete employee performance reviews as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, internet browsers, web-based programs, and email.

Education/Experience:
  • Required: High school degree or equivalent and minimum 5,000 hours of hands-on experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and 7,500 hours of hands-on experience

The work environment is both rewarding and dynamic. This position will spend most of their time at the Camp OBR facility. Employment related travel is in accordance with OBR policies and procedures.
