Experienced Bookkeeper / Client-Facing Accounting Professional

We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper/Accounting Professional who can step in, take ownership, and handle real-world client work with confidence. This is not a training role—we need someone who already knows what they’re doing and enjoys doing it well.

The Role

This is a full-time, in-office position based primarily in Marshall, MI . We are a multi-location firm, and occasional work in our other offices (all within approximately a 25-30 mile radius) may be required. In this role you will:

• Maintain accurate and complete bookkeeping records for business clients
• Record and review transactions, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Prepare financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, etc.)
• Work directly with clients to answer questions and resolve issues
• Spot problems before they become bigger problems (and fix them)
• Use QuickBooks efficiently—and correctly (this matters more than you think)

You’ll be working with real clients, real businesses, and real consequences—so attention to detail and professional judgment are non-negotiable.

What We’re Looking For

We’re intentionally selective. Plenty of people call themselves bookkeepers—we’re looking for someone who actually understands accounting and can apply it in the real world.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• Have multiple years of hands-on bookkeeping/accounting experience. An associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
• Understand debits, credits, and financial statements without hesitation
• Can explain numbers to clients in plain English (not accounting jargon)
• Are comfortable talking directly with clients—professionally and confidently
• Take ownership of your work and don’t need constant oversight
• Notice when something doesn’t look right—and fix it

Bonus points if you:

• Have prior experience in a CPA firm
• Are strong in both QuickBooks Desktop and Online
• Secretly enjoy cleaning up messy books (we all have our hobbies)

Compensation

• $17.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability
• Discretionary bonuses based on firm performance and individual contribution
