IATF Quality Engineer | Rockford, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $114,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements.
• Manage APQP activities and prepare PPAP submissions for new product launches and engineering changes, ensuring customer approval.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa) for internal and external quality issues.
• Develop, implement, and maintain FMEAs, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams to ensure robust process control.
• Conduct internal audits and participate in external/customer audits to ensure ongoing compliance with IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements.
• Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and process quality.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and support supplier development activities in line with IATF requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge and practical application experience of IATF 16949 standard.
• Proficiency in core quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.
• Minimum 3-5 years of quality engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Experience leading or participating in internal and external IATF 16949 audits.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab)
• Lead Auditor certification (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001)
• Experience managing customer quality portals and specific customer requirements (e.g., AIAG CQI special processes)
