Howmet Aerospace
Whitehall, MI

Aerospace Casting Operations Supervisor

Howmet Aerospace designs and manufactures advanced engineered solutions that power quieter, more efficient jet engines and sustainable ground transportation. From aerospace fasteners and titanium structures to forged wheels, our teams help deliver mission-critical performance across aerospace and defense.

A day in this role

Your shift begins at Plant 3 – Whitehall Casting Operation. You walk the floor, greet the crew, and lead a quick huddle to align on safety, quality, and output. You review the production plan, adjust labor to meet demand, and make sure everyone understands the goals. When the unexpected happens—an equipment hiccup, a late material arrival—you pivot calmly, reassign work, and keep the line moving safely and efficiently.

Throughout the shift, you coach operators, mentor new supervisors, and reinforce 6S and ABS principles. You interface with planning, engineering, maintenance, quality, and union representatives to remove roadblocks. You analyze production reports and log sheets, audit for EHS compliance, and escalate issues with data. Above all, you set the tone—owning results, celebrating wins, tackling problems, and ensuring on-time delivery for our customers.

What success looks like

  • Anticipation: You forecast needs across stakeholders and prepare operations for flawless execution.
  • Reliability: You lead by example, set clear goals, uphold safety, and work within the bargaining unit contract.
  • Optimization: You eliminate waste, raise quality, and align resources to maximize throughput.
  • Facilitation: You are the connective tissue among planning, management, and the floor—clear, accurate, timely.
  • Responsiveness: You adapt staffing and other variables in real time.
  • Influence: You delegate well, explain the “why,” and manage change and conflict constructively.
  • Organization: You plan daily work, balance competing priorities, and keep contingencies ready.
  • Observation: You spot trends, act on data, and intervene early on safety, quality, or schedule risks.
  • Ownership: You accept accountability and inspire it in others.
