About the Role:

The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting the overall human resources function to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the plant. This position is responsible for managing a wide range of HR activities including but not limited to employee relations, recruitment, compliance, policy enforcement and benefits administration. The HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to both management and employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting organizational culture. By handling day-to-day HR tasks and contributing to strategic initiatives, this role helps drive employee engagement and operational excellence. Ultimately, the HR Generalist ensures that the plant’s workforce is well-supported, compliant with policies, and aligned with the company’s goals.

Reports to: Vice President

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Proficiency with HRIS systems, ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance in a manufacturing setting.
• Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting related to HR metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or participate in HR projects and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and conflict resolution support.
• Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and enrollment.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports related to workforce metrics and compliance.
• Support performance management processes including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career growth.
• Collaborate with management to implement HR strategies that support plant operations and workforce needs.

The HR Generalist utilizes strong communication skills daily to effectively interact with employees at all levels and resolve workplace issues. Analytical skills are essential for interpreting HR data, managing compliance, and supporting decision-making processes. Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office enables efficient management of employee records, benefits administration, and reporting. Conflict resolution and negotiation skills are applied regularly to maintain positive employee relations and handle disciplinary matters. Additionally, organizational and multitasking abilities are critical to balance recruitment, training, and compliance responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
